The Qemal Stafa Foundation, with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, organized a two-day training with the new mayors of the Socialist Party municipalities. The training took place on July 7-8, 2023 in the city of Elbasan.
This training program has provided a valuable opportunity to increase the capacities of first-time elected mayors to lead their respective municipalities in the most efficient and responsible manner, and to foster cooperation and professional relations between counterparts in the country’s municipalities.
The first day of the training focused on the importance of local government in key objectives, such as increasing the role of municipalities in sustainable economic development and increasing their economic performance, active participation in politics at the local level and increasing coordination with central-level structures, as well as the role of municipalities in the European integration process. During the second day of the training, the focus was on providing the most comprehensive and qualitative municipal services to citizens.
