The Progressive Leadership Program, which builds on previous similar programs of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), concludes with tailored curricula that include two intensive and interactive workshops combining theoretical presentations and practical skills for representatives of youth organizations of progressive political parties and civil society activists from eight countries in the region: Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia and Croatia. The 2022 Progressive Leadership Program focused on the theme “Regional Cooperation for Peace and Security.”
About 25 participants, including participants from the Qemal Stafa Foundation, had the opportunity to participate in a study visit to Vienna on November 22-25, 2022, where after two intensive training modules in the Western Balkans Region, they visited foundations and organizations that are very active and engaged in regional issues related to European integration, in the internal affairs of the region, as well as in the main challenges that the region is facing such as the energy crisis, mass migration, unemployment, gender differences, etc. The meetings were organized in the form of open discussions where participants became parties to the talks with representatives of the organizations and addressed questions as appropriate.
Some of the organizations visited during this visit are as follows: Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Cooperation and Peace Office; Austrian Institute for International Affairs; International Institute for Peace; Renner Institut; Energy Community Secretariat.
