Open Discussion with High School Youth in Tirana

Following the information activities on the Open Balkan initiative, the Qemal Stafa Foundation organized a meeting on July 14, 2022 to hold an open discussion with young people from Tirana high schools. The purpose of the meeting was to present the paper “Open Balkan: Benefits and Risks” and to encourage discussion among young people.

The youth of Tirana have had an important participatory role in formulating programs and expressing the European vision of young people, best sealing their desire and will for Albania in Europe. The most recent case is the inclusion of Tirana in the European Youth Capitals Network, as a result of the city of Tirana being awarded the title of “European Youth Capital” for 2022. The impact of this award is expected to positively influence the European Commission’s reports on Albania in terms of social policies and employment. By giving young people a voice, they can contribute to making the region an attractive and inclusive place for young people to live, work and achieve their ambitions. This task takes on added value in conditions of massive youth emigration from the country.
