Albania, like Europe and the world, is embracing the digital revolution, creating new opportunities for citizens and businesses. In this context, the Albanian Government has made a strong commitment to supporting and promoting digital initiatives as a powerful tool leading to modernized governance, increased knowledge for a more open society and sustainable economic development for its citizens. Albania has adapted the legal framework for the information society in line with the EU Acquis Communautaire, while constantly being in touch with the dynamic developments of the Digital Single Market. Recognizing the role that information and communication technology and digital transformation can play in advancing economic and social development as a key priority brings added value. For this reason, research on the benefits and risks related to digital services is important at this stage of Albania’s digitalization process.
On July 25, 2022, the presentation of the paper and an open discussion about digital services were held at a roundtable organized by the Qemal Stafa Foundation. Young activists and professionals in the field participated in the constructive debate. Also present at this discussion was the Member of the Parliament of Albania and Digital Secretary of the Socialist Party, Mr. Etjen Xhafaj.
