Conference Topic: In Focus: Connectivity Agenda according to the Berlin Process
On June 4th 2018, the Foundation “Qemal Stafa” organized the fifth Panel Discussion, which is focused on adapting the Albanian legislation with the Acquis of the European Union.
Under the moderation of the Executive Director of the Foundation Qemal Stafa, Ms. Teuta Vodo, the discussion was conducted with the topic “Connectivity within the Regional Integration in accordance with the Berlin Agenda”.
Panelists who provided their approach to the topic were Mr. Agim Bregasi, Director of Energy Policies from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Ms. Irena Malolli, Director of Infrastructure Projects from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy; Ms. Lilika Radovicka, Head of Sector in Infrastructure, Transport and Transportation Services Policy and Infrastructure Sector.
The panel discussion was focused on creating a connectivity strategy for eliminating obstacles, facilitating regional integration and focusing on the need for cooperation with regional countries in the field of infrastructure and energy.
As Mr. Bregasi stated during the presentation of the energy market in Albania, some measures are foreseen in the National Energy Strategy which aim at the development of this sector in Albania. They are:
- Electricity production system;
- Electricity Transmission System;
- Distribution system of electricity.
Furthermore, Mrs. Irena Malolli emphasized that “’Digital integration is a novelty in the connectivity agenda. As a new entry, digital integration brings facilitating roaming policies, enhanced Internet security, and strengthens trust and data protection services.”
Such co-operations stimulate the economy and accelerate the introduction of new technologies in our region.
Meanwhile, Ms. Radovicka specified that “We are committed to improveand harmonize the technical policies and standards at national and regional level.”
Thanks to this engagement, we have today an effective market of coordination and communication between the six Western Balkan countries, which has served as an added value for the development of the transport sector.
Mrs. Vodo concluded the activity highlighting that this cooperation between the Western Balkan countries in the framework of the Connectivity Agenda is a good example of how countries sharing the same attitude can join their efforts to better interact on the common regional agenda as well as to effectively address internal and external challenges.
